Walk the World for Schizophrenia
Every June, North Shore Schizophrenia Society members, family, friends and supporters "walk the world for schizophrenia" - a unique awareness and fundraising event in which participants, many with special t-shirts marking the occasion, walk in solidarity with each other, hand out leaflets to the public, and help remove the stigma surrounding schizophrenia.

The walk takes place on a Sunday morning on the famous West Vancouver Centennial Sea Walk, from John Lawson Park (waterfront at the base of 17th Street) to Dundarave Pier and back.

Hallmarks of the walk are the West Vancouver Adult Pops Band - which entertains the public and gets the marchers off to a rousing start - and the handing out of balloons to young children as the walk moves along. An information table, under a large banner, at the walk's starting point, provides a a wide range of brochures for those who wish to stop and discuss the illness and our work in more detail. Donations are also welcome. Refreshments and other support are provided by community partners IGA in Dundarave and Safeway in Ambleside.

If it's spring as you read this, you can find specific details for the upcoming walk (the date and time) by turning to the "News and Events" section on the Home Page.
