Christmas banquet
Ho! Ho! Ho! Every year, in early December, the North Shore Schizophrenia Society hosts a Christmas banquet for members, their ill relatives, and psychiatric patients from across the North Shore. The West Vancouver Adult Pops Band, organized by Dr. Tom Calder, accompanies diners with its lively repertoire of Christmas music. Santa Claus always makes an appearance to hand out gifts and share his merry laughter. Live entertainment follows. Over 100 people attend, including families and friends. It’s one of the most joyous and anticipated events of the Christmas season.

This year, the Christmas banquet was held on Saturday, December 1 at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in West Vancouver.  Despite snow and an epidemic of flus, colds and other illnesses, 80 people attended the banquet.  Entertainment was provided by Karin Roberts, who delighted guests with her vocals and acoustic guitar.

Call the Family Support Centre at 604-926-0856 or email us for information on plans for next Christmas.

If you would like to volunteer, there are many ways to help out - shopping, wrapping, setting up, serving, clearing and more. Call the Family Support Centre to find out more!

Restaurant outings
We host annual restaurant outings for residents of group homes and others.

Summer picnic
The summer picnic has not been held for many years, but we always cherish the hope that somehow we’ll find a volunteer or two to make it happen again. It’s a natural for lovers of sunshine and for Frisbee aficionados. Any takers?
